Marina Zatz de Camarco Zaborowsky better known by her stage name Luisa Mell, is a Brazilian actress, presenter, activist and businesswoman.
Mell’s career began at the age of nineteen when she appeared in sitcom on Sunday program Domingo Legal (SBT). Then she went to Rede TV! where she presented programs. The best known is the Late Show, which had the purpose of rescuing animals from the streets or under mistreatment and arranging their adoption. Animals rights activist, Mell was responsible for passing a law banning the use of animals in circus shows and the immediate sacrifice of dogs collected by Zoonoses.
In May 2013, she launched her official website. The website is intended to provide veterinary information, rescue stories, appeals.
In February, 2015, she founded the Luisa Mell Institute, which mainly works to rescue injured or at-risk animals’ recovery and adoption. It also maintains a shelter with dozens of animals, between dogs and cats, all rescued from the streets, where they are protected, fed and given the chance to be adopted.
Founded in February 2015, the Luisa Mell Institute (ILM in Portuguese) acts, mainly, in rescuing wounded and at-risk animals, predominantly in homeless or dangerous situations.
We maintain a shelter with approximately 300 dogs and cats, most of whom are rescued from the streets. The shelter provides a warm bed, food, and medical care with the objective of ensuring adoptions of the rescued animals to responsible owners.
Her work, however, is not restricted solely to rescues and adoptions. They have several other areas of dedication.
In 2019 Luisa Mell announced the purchase of forest land that will be used as an animal sanctuary. Her plan is to convert the area into a wildlife sanctuary.
